Pest Control
"A firm understanding of insect behavior is essential for intelligent and effective pest control"
Ants, cockroaches, spiders, bees, silverfish and other crawling insects are common problems in Georgia homes and businesses.
Integrated Pest Management Services
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a safer, more effective, and environmentally friendly approach to bed bug treatment and pest control. An IPM program involves inspection of the property, identification of pests and harborage areas, sealing off entry points, treating attics, basements, crawl spaces, the use of traps, and sanitation.
IPM goes beyond simply spraying pesticides until the problem goes away, this is obviously not safe and usually not effective long-term. An IPM approach says first let’s perform a thorough inspection to gather information. Once the pests are identified, then what is causing the pest problem is determined, (i.e. what can be done besides using pesticides to eliminate the problem). Next, we implement a plan of action, make suggestions to homeowners, and finally apply a limited amount of pesticide if necessary. Many pest problems are solved without pesticides and just taking a little time to investigate.
ALTERNATE MONTH PERIMETER SERVICE
By far our most popular pest service. Our exterior perimeter service was introduced a few years ago with the increasing ant populations in Georgia. We found that many of our customers who were on our quarterly service would commonly say, ” I knew it was time for our next service because we started seeing bugs”. The pest treatments begin to wear down and become ineffective with time thus the need for on-going maintenance. However, we did not want our customers to see bugs at all – even if it was time for our next service. So we began performing our treatments on alternating months and on the exterior only. Because most bugs come from the exterior we are able to control them before they enter. With the change to our Alternate Month Perimeter Service, we had instant results and an improvement in our commercial pest control service. We are able to perform the treatments on a more consistent basis because the need to schedule an interior appointment was eliminated and the number of customers reporting bug sitings reduced dramatically.
Control a Pest Before It Enters
An exterior perimeter treatment follows the approach that homeowners shouldn’t wait to perform pest control until after the pests are inside the home. This is a highly popular and proactive form of pest management due to this fact. For ages, homeowners contacted a pest control company only when they spotted pests inside their homes. In other words, the problem was already present. An exterior perimeter treatment guards against homes entering your dwelling in the first place. This ensures that pests stay outside where they belong.
Is Pest Control Worth It?
Preventative pest control is definitely worth it! The best way to deal with any potential problem is to take a proactive approach, especially when dealing with pests. Pest management isn’t usually the first thing on a homeowner’s mind until they become aware of a problem. While it’s possible to remove household pests from your home after they arrive, it’s far easier and less of a headache to keep them out in the first place. Integrated pest management is the solution to this problem. This preventative program can avoid costly property damage and keep your family safe.
An IPM acts as a protective guard, warding off insects of all kinds from attempting to infiltrate your home. Think about what happens when your home doesn’t have this invisible barrier.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches are not only a nuisance but can also impact the health of you and your family. The droppings they leave behind contain harmful microorganisms. Not only that, but they scrounge through garbage, breed in sewers, then can’t wait to track it all across your countertops, floors, and living areas. They also carry pathogens and could be the host to a number of diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea, dysentery, and more.
Bed Bugs
You may never feel a bed bug bite, but you may have to deal with the effects. Bed bugs have been known to cause sleep deprivation and anemia. Furthermore, they feed on humans and other warm-blooded hosts in order to reproduce. They trace carbon dioxide to their warm-blooded victim and then penetrate the skin of the host, most of the time without them even knowing it. They may feed on their victim for several minutes and usually target exposed areas of skin such as the hand, neck, or face. Bed bug bites can cause welts or red marks on their victims. As a homeowner, you definitely don’t want to leave an open invitation to these pests.
Termites
Termites can wreak major havoc on your home without you becoming aware of it until the damage is already done. The damage done to the structure of your home is one thing, but termites can also cause health problems as well. As they destroy your home’s wooden structure, the wood releases spores that travel through the air into different places of your home. These spores can aggravate allergies and asthma.
The phrase “the best offense is a good defense” doesn’t only apply to football. Keeping these pests and many others away from your residence is the best move you can make. All of these problems and many others can be avoided with integrated pest management.
No Appointments Necessary for Interior Access
An exterior perimeter treatment doesn’t require inside access to the home or business. Customers don’t have to schedule a time for a pest technician visit. Another added convenience is the customer doesn’t have to rearrange their schedule to ensure they are around during a window of time. This can force them to request time off from work. With an exterior perimeter treatment, all of these hassles are taken away. This is a convenient pest management option.
